This was my first HD shoot with my Canon t2i and I’m happy with how it turned out. Tiesto is ranked the #1 DJ in the world and the crowd that showed up at his party was so amazing. The weather was really great and it was cool to meet a lot of amazing people.
The initial intro in this video was created by Erik Jensen accompanied by the audio of Casey Giessen. These guys did an epic job and I’m so happy that everything worked out.
If you enjoyed this video or have any feedback please leave a comment as I would love to hear about it. Thanks for your time.
At Mograph TV we love showcasing beautiful short films and the process that goes into making them. Chris and I felt it would be cool to take things from a different angle and talk about bigger movies that you’ll probably see in theaters. What better than to kick things off with Inception! If you haven’t already seen Inception and would like to get an idea of what the story is about, please check out the wiki page.
Often times when I see movies in theaters (even great ones) I tend to get annoyed with sitting in the same place for so long. With Inception I was totally locked into the story from scene one. I guess it also helps that I’m a huge Leonardo DiCaprio fan. He usually lands up with great roles such as what he played in Titanic, The Beach, Catch Me if You Can, and Inception is no exception (cool, that rhymes).
I was totally blown away by the core concept being an exploration of dreams and how ideas can be planted into your head. Ideas are constantly flowing through mine so it was easy to relate. I also really enjoyed Adriadne (Ellen Page‘s) role, I felt she kept Dom inline dealing with the guilt associated to Mal. My mind was rushing at the point of the van falling off the bridge. As all the actors were shifting through each level of dreaming, it was so amazing how everything fit together. The ending also rocked me, I love being left questioning what happened to the spinner (I’ll assume it tipped over and stopped so I can sleep at night or… Inception 2? ).
I checked out this short film regarding the sound design before heading to the theatres and the audio was absolutely incredible. The Orchestra music flowed so well with the adventure they faced.
Chris’ words on Inception: What an intriguing concept. The possibilities within a dream are endless and that’s exactly where this film is set. We’re brought into a world where information theft directly from a victims sleeping subconscious is a viable form of espionage.
Director Christopher Nolan impressively shows us how the feeling of endless possibilities with the use of clever cinematography instead of heavy on visual effects. Moments of heavy visual effects, mainly intense dream construction, were quite impressive and really humbled you as a viewer, questioning the world we’re seeing. Nolan opted for implied shifts in perception and clever cues connecting differing levels of consciousness within dreams. For example one shot shows DiCaprio submerged into a tub of water in order to wake him up. Within the dream the room he’s standing in is flooded with an onslaught of water pouring in the windows.
Another of my favorite scenes is a gravity shifting struggle in a hotel hallway. Instead of opting for visual effects for this shot, Nolan constructed the hallway within a converted airship hangar north of London. This film plants a sense of wonder and bends the perceptions of anyone who watches. Check it out!
If you have seen Inception and have any thoughts about it please through up a comment, we’d love to hear from you.
Ever since I picked up my Canon t2i my eyes are constantly thirsty for ways that people are capturing beauty with DSLR’s. What I really enjoy about this film is the fact that it’s a simple idea executed so beautifully. The idea of taking an object and studying it’s movements is so fascinating to me. There are so many amazing compositions of this clock and I’m very happy with how this turned out.
This may also fire up an idea for you with the basic principal of: Find an object that interests you and capture it.
Please let me know if you’ve done a similar exercise in the past or are in the future!
This is such and awesome swimming video, I love it. The audio: Toro Y Moi – Talamak goes with it so well and I love the darker colour style. The director did a beautiful job in presenting the simplicity of swimming and I bet it was fun to shoot! Dive in and enjoy.
As graphic design matures alongside a robust digital culture, the two continue to become inexorably intertwined. Though graphic design, the art of visual communication, is as old as mans artistic mind, newer forms of communication and expression like filmmaking and motion graphics are still in their infancy. Beautiful films, the cornerstone of Mograph TV, are everywhere today. People love creating, consuming, critiquing, sharing and reviewing them. Video games have come a long way since their initial conception. They’ve developed from games of simple hand-eye coordination contests, to fully immersive worlds with enthralling characters and recognized economies that lure your emotional interest. That emotional investment is hardly something to take lightly either, since video games from decades ago still inspire questionable tattoos, and provide unique inspiration for more recent video projects.
I recently added a Canon t2i to the studio of Mograph TV and I’m very happy with it . Last weekend I went on an adventure to Québec City for some textures to collect and share with you folks. I’ve included a pretty nice variation of Bricks, Streets, Walls, and a few extra treats.
Please feel free to use these stock photos for personal, non-commercial and commercial use. GO NUTS and no you don’t have to attribute me if you don’t want to.
It would be really cool if you sent me an email about what you create with them. If I land up with a nice round up, I’ll definitely post the projects on Mograph TV. If you have any suggestions about other stock photos you’d like to see, please let me know. I really loved creating this pack and I feel for myself it’s going to be a very nice resource.
I heard this tune tonight while I was watching one of the latest videos by Bombe TV (cool online quebec show) and I find it’s really catchy! One thing I really loved about this video is that fact that it looks like it was shot on an old camera and has a nice nostalgia look to it while exploring many different types of scenes.
It’s very well done and I hope you enjoy the song as much as I am .
This is another really great piece by Onur. The exploration of different shapes in this piece is so incredible and I love the ambience of distortion. The transitions were so cool and intensified by the ripping sounds. The animations on the bag were so unexpected for and before you know it you have a visual roller coaster.
Make sure you watch this in full screen to get the full experience!
I’ve been very excited about the movement of DSLR cinematography and this only pumps me up more! When I picked up my Canon T2i it got me thinking about other lenses. I’m currently learning on the EF-S 18-135mm and it’s doing a great job for me. Stillmotion is starting a really cool looking series to learn more about lenses and DSLR shooting. I hope to learn a lot from their work and I think they’re going to absolutely rock it.
After having a great talk with Greg (soulgrafix) tonight I’m very excited to present this piece to you! Essentially this film is about the state of journalists in Québec and their influence on society. From a technical point of view, I really love how this stop animation is executed. The handwritten typography is blended in very well and I’m in love with the transitions.
