Showreel 2009 from Miles Christensen on Vimeo.

Miles contacted me a few days ago about completing his 2009 showreel and I was quite delighted :) . The majority of his work revolves around video game animations with some other great pieces. I really enjoy the tune he selected as it’s calm and lends itself nicely to the flow.

It’s awesome how it opens up with the lyrics “What did…” and the army man speaks which looks like he’s singing. A major strong point of this demo is around 55 seconds when the yellow liquid goes into the man’s head. The wireframe views also beautifully exhibit his modeling style.

Thanks again for sharing your reel Miles!

  1. While I was playing through Modern Warfare 2, I was really paying attention to the motion graphics involved. I think they really improved my game experience. I always wondered who slammed these together… but I assumed it was a whole team. I guess now I know. Well, Miles, great job man, it really improved the game for me.

As for the other elements in the video, I really love that 3D word “show”. At the end of the reel when the word rushed the camera felt really quick like i needed to dodge out of the way :D

  2. Thanks for the kind words Chris. I must clear up one thing. I cannot take credit for all the sequences within Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2. There was indeed a large team at SPOV who completed the majority of the work. I am however responsible for the pieces on my reel.

The type at the end was an ident created for the SPOV showreel.

    Cheers, miles.
