Style frames are an essential part of the the creative process in motion design and a solid direction is essential. I went on a graphic design inspiration hunt today and I thought it would be nice to share it with you.
Champion Sound 15 by Martijn van Dam
This is such an awesome spaceship, I love it. If you’re familiar with Martijn’s work you’ll notice there’s a trend of beautifully painted details that create and epic look. The city elements in the background add a cool ambience.
If you’d like to see how this was created, you can check out this video:
Go To Sleep Citizen by J3 Concepts aka Jared Nickerson.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Jared’s work and it’s great to learn from him. If you’re familiar with his work, this is a nice compilation of a few projects. If you aren’t then you should really check out this interview I did with him.
Free My Mind by Eroen van Eerden
Eroen van Eerden is a junior designer from the Netherlands (there are so many great graphic designers out there). I felt there was some abstract thinking in this design. Abstraction is an important aspect of design and letting yourself explore new territory.
Inside the Cloud by Zim And Zou
I really enjoy scenes built out of construction paper, it gives it an awesome feel that you want to reach out and touch. The natural drop shadows give it a nice presence. If you dig this be sure to check out more work by Zim And Zou.
Colors Control Your Mood by Egor Bashakov and Dopludo Collective
The simplistic colour palette in this piece provides a really deep level of style. I also felt the facial expression of the characters are nice and subtle but add to the emotion as a whole. It’s cool that this image proposes a question in my mind. I’m wondering what the women is holding. Was she on a mission for that object or is it a part of something else?
I always find it awesome when artists explore different aras in graphic design and this has a 1960′s vibe for me. At the same time the main character in this layout reminds me of Iron Man. the kerning of the typography for the title allows it to breathe elegantly.
The flat 3D style in this project is awesome! The typography is really nicely aligned with everything which stands out the most to me.
The tear drops and the shading in the puddles add such a nice feel to this piece. I’m happy about how everything compliments eachother and keeps you focused to the center of the artwork. Be sure to click on the image to check out Michal’s other artwork, there’s a lot of gems to be discovered!
Night Maps – Sono graphic experiments by Anthony Dart
This is a well done exploration of mixed mediums: painting, vector, photography and of course typography. There’s also audio experimentation to compliment the work.
S A K I D E A M S H E N I by Giga Kobidze
I thought it would be cool to close things off with something a little more rough and harsh. I love the use of Helvetica with the splashes of colour and green lines. If you click on the image you can see various views of the elements in this piece.
I had a lot of fun creating this article and it’s essential for everyone in the creative domain to stay sharp with trends and styles. I can understand how it’s easy to get lost in the search for inspiration which is why I restricted this post to 10 pieces. I’ll definitely do more of these kind of posts in the future as it’s a great exercise.
